Don't Kick It Down!
Expert Door Opening
It's incredibly frustrating when a door won't open, especially if you are inside the house or just stepped out for a moment. Whether it's a mechanical failure or human error, we can open the door cleanly, saving you the cost of a new door frame.
Key In Other Side
Left the key in the inside of your uPVC door? Standard cylinders won't let you open it from the outside. We can remove the key non-destructively.
Yale Snib Dropped
The small button on a nightlatch can drop down, deadlocking the door. We have special tools to release this without drilling.
Bathroom Lockouts
Internal tubular latches often break, trapping someone inside. We open these quickly and replace the faulty mechanism.
Child Locked In
Priority Service. If a child has locked themselves in a room or the house, we attend immediately as an emergency.
Jammed Bolt
Sometimes the deadbolt throws and won't retract due to a broken spring. We can manipulate it back manually.
Faulty Install
If a door was installed poorly, it can bind and refuse to open. We realign the door to ensure it opens smoothly again.
Expert Tip
The "Key in Back" Problem
Most standard euro cylinders (found on uPVC doors) typically do not have a "split spindle" or "emergency clutch". This means if a key is inserted horizontally on the inside, the outside key simply won't go in or turn.
We can upgrade your lock to a "Key & Turn" (thumbturn) or a dual-clutch cylinder so this never happens again.
Locked Inside FAQs
Will you have to break the lock?
Not usually. If it's a "key in back" situation, we can often pick it or use a specialized tool to turn the internal key. If the mechanism has failed physically, we might need to drill a small hole, but we replace the part immediately.
My bathroom door handle does nothing. Why?
The internal tubular latch has likely shattered. The handle turns, but it's disconnected from the bolt. We can retract the bolt manually to open the door and fit a new latch.
How fast can you come?
For lockouts where someone is trapped inside or locked out of their home, we aim for a 20 minute response time in Leeds.
